सेंट काजेटन चर्च निस्संदेह गोवा का सबसे खूबसूरत चर्च है।

आप यूरोपीय देशों के चर्च की यादों को ताजा कर सकते हैं जो कोरिंथियन और गॉथिक वास्तुकला से प्रेरित है। इसके प्राचीन सफेद प्रवेश द्वार से लेकर अग्रभाग के दोनों ओर आयताकार मीनारों तक, सब कुछ हमें मूल यूरोपीय वास्तुकला की याद दिलाता है। सेंट कैजेटन का चर्च अनिवार्य रूप से इटली में सैन पीटर के चर्च पर आधारित है और लेटराइट पत्थरों का उपयोग करके बनाया गया है। भारी शुल्क वाले पर्यटकों और तीर्थयात्रियों को गोवा में सेंट काजेटन चर्च और रूस में सेंट पीटर्सबर्ग शहर के चर्चों के बीच काफी समानता दिखाई देगी, जिसमें पॉल और पीटर किले भी शामिल हैं क्योंकि वे समान वास्तुशिल्प सिद्धांतों पर बनाए गए हैं।

आंतरिक रूपरेखा
चर्च का इंटीरियर बाहरी जितना बड़ा है। कोरिंथियन और बारोक वास्तुकला से प्रेरित कई वेदियां हैं, जो दाएं और बाएं तरफ स्थित हैं, और गलियारा बड़े स्तंभों से विभाजित है। बाईं ओर की वेदियां पैट और सेंट क्लेयर के पवित्र परिवार को समर्पित हैं। दायीं ओर की वेदियां सेंट काजेटन, सेंट जॉन और सेंट एग्नेस को समर्पित हैं, जिनमें से सेंट काजेटन की वेदी सबसे बड़ी है और इसे लकड़ी के एक बड़े मंच से सजाया गया है। वेदियों पर इतालवी पेंटिंग सेंट काजेटन के जीवन को दर्शाती हैं। चर्च के अंदर और बाहर से देखने पर आप शानदार गुंबद को देखकर चकित रह जाएंगे।

चर्च के अंदर एक कुआं
चर्च के परिसर में एक कुआं है जो इतिहासकारों और पुरातत्वविदों को यह सोचने पर मजबूर कर देता है कि शायद कोई प्राचीन हिंदू मंदिर रहा होगा जो पुर्तगालियों के कब्जे के दौरान खो गया था। इतिहासकारों के एक परस्पर विरोधी समूह का मानना है कि संरचनात्मक स्थिरता प्रदान करने के लिए जानबूझकर कुएं का निर्माण किया गया था। चर्च के दरवाजे पर हिंदू देवी-देवताओं की मूर्तियां खुदी हुई हैं, जो विवाद को और बढ़ा देती हैं। यह एक समय में सम्राट आदिल शाह के महल का एकमात्र हिस्सा बचा है।

सेंट काजेटन चर्च पुराने गोवा में स्थित है और गोवा की राजधानी पणजी से लगभग 10 किमी दूर है। यह बेसिलिका ऑफ बॉम जीसस और सेंट ऑगस्टीन जैसे प्रमुख चर्चों के खंडहरों के बीच स्थित है। बेहतर होगा कि आप इन सभी चर्चों के दर्शन करने के लिए एक दिन का समय निकालें क्योंकि शहर या उत्तरी गोवा में काफी यात्रा करनी पड़ती है। पुराने गोवा के लिए कैब सेवा वास्को डी गामा, मडगांव आदि सभी शहरों से उपलब्ध है। यदि आप कुछ साहसिक कार्य के लिए जाना चाहते हैं तो आप किराए पर बाइक ले सकते हैं और अपने समय और गति के अनुसार वास्तुकला के इन चमत्कारिक निर्माणों की यात्रा कर सकते हैं।
